Data Availability
dolitl supports multiple branches which we call "sites". Each site can represent a fixed location like a branch, or a mobile location, like your van or even your home. The key is that a site has the ability to access all accounts, patients and history regardless of at which site the account was created, and are able to do so without requiring a constant connection to any other site. This is achieved by dolitl exchanging data updates with all the other sites. This also ensures that all the data is not kept in one place - useful should disaster strike.
Document Availability
It's not good enough to just have all the data available at every site, you also need your scanned documents, pictures and files associated with that data. File replication is a necessity, and Amazon S3 provides a simple facility to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. It is the same highly scalable, reliable, fast and inexpensive data storage infrastructure that Amazon uses to run its own global network of websites that are household names. We use this capacity to copy files between sites so that you will have access to them all, again ensuring they are not kept in one place.
